Center of cultural initiatives GARDEN
Center of cultural initiatives GARDEN is the center of actual art which was opened in Saint-Petersburg (Russia) in November 2007.
GARDEN is both a training and a creative territory where a lot of projects have their birth. Master-classes of the leading representatives of actual art – dancers, actors, musicians from Russia and Europe – are held within the walls of the GARDEN. As an art area we propose concerts, performances, shows, etc. Also the center is a rehearsal area for many theaters and dancing companies in Saint-Petersburg.
We cooperate with the best Russian and foreign theaters: DEREVO, AKHE, Oddance, Morph, Iguan Dance Company and others.
We are oriented at developing and cultural programs both for the children and the adults. The center’s work is aimed at overall development of a child, a teenager and an adult by using different theatrical and creative techniques.
One of the main notions becomes “Studio”. We consider studio as the source of the unique developing programs created not only be the teachers but also by the real masters who work with their own technologies.

Trainings
Organization and conducting art-trainings in the following directions has an important role in the GARDEN’s activity:
- contact improvisation;
- butoh;
- spontaneous dance;
- contemporary dance;
- yoga;
- kalary-payattu;
- capoeira;
- voting improvisation;
- music improvisation.
Concerts and exhibitions
GARDEN supports creative initiatives of the best theaters, dancing companies, exhibition centers, and musical groups. There are different art-events in the center:
- Festivals;
- Concerts;
- Performances;
- Art meetings;
- Exhibitions;
- Movies;
- Lections.
International activity
Center “GARDEN” actively works with international partners. We’ve held workshops of masters from Spain, Brazil, France, Finland and other countries. In November-December 2009 we are starting exchange programs with several cultural centers from Finland. We are working in the following directions:
- Workshops of the strongest Russian masters for foreign groups;
- Events for foreign groups: days of Russian culture, unusual exhibitions, etc.;
- Cultural exchange programs: common creative projects under the direction of the best choreographers and directors.
Organization of events
The “Events Laboratory” actively works in the “GARDEN”. It creates and organizes events and happenings of different formats for children and adults. The Lab produces:
- Art parties;
- Specialized evenings;
- Birthdays and holidays for children;
- and others.
“Children studio” project
“Children studio” is our center’s project in the field of developing leisure for children. It is created on the principle of developing environment which provokes creativity in a child. “Children studio” consists of different studios which are: “Handmade stories”, “The world in a suitcase”, “Studio of style”. We are also preparing to open “Gardener’s studio”, “Photo studio”, “Studio of weaving and braiding”, “Animation studio”, “Carpenter’s studio”.
Our teachers are the recognized masters in their fields who work on the basis of their own techniques.
“Children studio” organizes performances and exhibitions for children, regular club meetings and events, birthdays and big holidays.

The Center of cultural initiatives “GARDEN” is an innovative project of Play structures research laboratory “Teatrika” which realizes research, educational, art, producing and social projects. The Laboratory in its background has performances, shows, yearly festivals, workshops, club events, business initiatives, etc. “Teatrika” is always open to collaboration in the field of crossroads of art and business.
